I would rather not make a picture: Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit says. “I don’t want to create an image. I just want to do interesting cinema. My personal life never had and will never have any impact on the films I choose.”

Madhuri Dixit is making her presence felt in the industry, if her appearances at recent functions and on TV shows are anything to go by.

Acknowledging that film promotions have a huge role in a film’s success nowadays — a stark change from her heyday in the ’90s when a film’s marketing was very limited — she says, “I have been watching how actors promote their films; how Shah Rukh Khan goes all out to promote his movies. Now I am going through the motions. It’s hectic and demanding, but I think it is fun as well, because you get to speak about your movie.”

The actor, who will seen in Abhishek Chaubey’s

, says that she has been attempting a balancing act between her personal and professional lives lately.

“I am doing a lot of time management. I miss my kids when I go for outdoor shooting schedules. But we talk over the phone every day and chat online,” says Madhuri.

However, being a wife and a mother hasn’t affected her choice of roles. She says. “I don’t want to create an image. I just want to do interesting cinema. My personal life never had and will never have any impact on the films I choose.”

The Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! (1994) actor started an online dance academy earlier this year and will and will launch a digital health care platform with her husband, Dr Shriram Nene. “

I’ve always been ambitious,” she says. “I wanted to do the dance academy because I wanted to share my passion with my fans. It’s accessible globally and we have more than 70,000 students now.”
