By India Today Web Desk: Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool’s win over Manchester United has given them a huge boost in the race for the top-four in the Premier League. Liverpool hammered Manchester United 7-0 in the Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did not fist pump the Anfield crowd because it would feel like he was rubbing it in to Manchester United.

“When you win by a shock scoreline it almost knocks a bit of the celebration because Manchester United become the story more. Klopp didn’t fist pump the Kop as you’d expect because, I think, of the scoreline and it feels like you’re rubbing it in,” said Carragher.

He went on to say that this win over United gives a huge boost to Liverpool in term of the top-four race. Liverpool handed Manchester United their biggest defeat in the Premier League on Sunday.

“It gives Liverpool a huge boost in terms of getting in the top four. It’s really important in terms of what they could do in the summer financially and maybe a player they could bring in. There’s a lot of talk of Jude Bellingham and lots of clubs going for him,” Carragher added.

The former England full-back said he can’t believe that Liverpool still have a chance to make it to the UEFA Champions League spots in the Premier League having started the season in very bad fashion.

“I still can’t believe the games Liverpool have lost, the performances they’ve put in, they’ve still got a great chance of making the top four. There’s still a long way to go but Liverpool at Bournemouth next week is a game you expect them to win. After that they’ve got a really tough week,” said Carragher.

Liverpool will now turn their focus to Bournemouth, who they face in the Premier League on March 11.
