IND vs AUS: The conditions are likely to be sunny but may vary as time passes in the second ODI between India and Australia in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (March 19).
By India Today Sports Desk: India will look to take an unassailable lead against Australia when the two teams clash in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (March 19).
Hardik Pandya, in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, led India to a five-wicket win over Australia in the opening match in Mumbai. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj shared six wickets before KL Rahul played a fighting knock of 75* to take India home.
For the second ODI, the weather forecast is quite promising. The conditions are likely to be sunny but may vary as time passes. The humidity is expected to be 81 percent and the dew point is predicted at 21 degrees Celsius. The air quality, according to Accuweather, would be excellent and the cloud cover is expected to be 76 percent. There are chances of thunderstorms during the first innings as well.
The return of captain Rohit Sharma will strengthen India, but it will force the think tank to make changes in the team at the top of the order. In the first ODI, Ishan Kishan opened alongside Shubman Gill.
Recently, former India cricketer Ajit Agarkar urged Rohit to not miss any ODI matches in the build up to the 50-over World Cup later this year in India.
Agarkar said that India needed its captain Rohit, who missed the 1st ODI due to the wedding of his brother-in-law, no matter how physically demanding it may be. The former cricketer also lauded Rohit’s batting prowess, saying the captain is approaching his game slightly differently and is aiming to be aggressive at the top of the order.
“His record speaks for itself. You do not need to say anything about Rohit’s performance in white ball cricket. He has taken a slightly different approach at times, trying to be the aggressor at the top of the order. Maybe he changed it a little bit in the last series, giving himself a little more time and got the hundred,” Agarkar said on Star Sports’ Game Plan.
“I just hope he plays every game that India plays from now on, every one-day, because you want your captain out there to just have a pattern of play. He is missing the first one due to personal reasons. From thereon, you will not have enough one-days to formulate your plans. You want Rohit out there, as physically demanding as it can be for the captain, you want him not to miss any games. With regards to his batting, I do not think there are any issues.”
