Ajith Kumar’s family issues 1st statement after actor’s father PS Mani’s demise, says ‘he lived a good life’

Ajith Kumar’s father, PS Mani, passed away in the early hours on March 24. He was 85 years old. The actor’s family shared a statement about the life he lived.

By Janani K: Ajith Kumar and his family are bereaved as the actor’s father, PS Mani, breathed his last at his Chennai home on March 24. He was 85 years old. The family shared the first statement regarding Mani’s demise. Going by the statement, Ajith’s father had suffered a stroke four years ago and took treatment for the same. They also requested privacy from family members, friends and fans during these testing times. On March 24, Ajith Kumar and his family members issued a statement regarding PS Mani’s death. In the statement, they thanked the doctors who took care of him over the course of four years.

The statement read, “Our father, PS Mani, passed away in the early hours of this morning, in his sleep, after a long illness. He was 85. We are grateful for the care and support provided to him and our family by a number of medical professionals, especially following his debilitating stroke of four years ago (sic).”

“We are comforted, at this time of grief, that he lived a good life and knew the undying love of our mother, his partner of nearly six decades. We appreciate the kind, comforting messages and condolences that have been coming in and ask for your understanding if we may not be able to take calls or respond to messages in a timely manner (sic),” the statement read.

Regarding the funeral, the family said, “His last rites will be a family affair. We trust that all who have known loss will respect our wish to grieve privately and deal with his passing with as much equanimity and dignity as possible. – Anup Kumar, Ajith Kumar, Anil Kumar (sic).”

Ajith Kumar was last seen in director H Vinoth’s Thunivu. The actor is currently on a break. Soon, he will begin work on his upcoming film, which is tentatively titled AK 62. The film will be helmed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. An official announcement is still awaited.
