IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians’ Cameron Green can’t wait to see a packed Wankhede

IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Cameron Green said that he cannot wait to see a packed Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2023.

By India Today Sports Desk: Australia all-rounder Cameron Green is set to be in action at the Indian Premier League 2023 season. Green, one of the most talked about talents in the world right now was bought by Mumbai Indians for a massive sum of Rs 17.50 crore ahead of the 2023 season.

The Australian all-rounder who scored his maiden Test century in India earlier in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, said that he cannot wait to see the Wankhede stadium packed during the Indian Premier League 2023.

“The ground’s pretty special, I’m lucky enough to play here. It’s a cool ground to be around with all the blues here. Ya, can’t wait to see when its packed,” Green said in a video posted by the Mumbai Indians on their social media handles.

Green is expected to be one of Mumbai’s core players this season and hopes will be pinned on him to revive Mumbai from the slump they fell in during 2022 season. A batter who can float through the batting order, Green’s inclusion gives Mumbai a lot of flexibility, unlike in 2022 where Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma struggled in opening for the majority part of the season. While Kishan was able to walk away with 418 runs from 14 matches, his intent was criticised throughout the tournament.

Mumbai would also hope that Green can help Mumbai during the middle overs of the game with his medium pace. Green’s tall built and hit the deck nature allows him to extract bounce from the surface, which can come in handy when he bowls with England speedster Jofra Archer.

Mumbai will be playing their first game of the tournament against Faf du Plessis Royal Challengers Bangalore.
