IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer is going to be 100 per cent fit against Royal Challengers Bangalore, revealed MI coach Mark Boucher.
By India Today Sports Desk: England pacer Jofra Archer is raring to go for Mumbai Indians’ opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore, said head coach Mark Boucher ahead of their game on 2 April. Archer, one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket made a comeback after long injury layoff in the recent months. There were questions over the player’s fitness coming into the Indian Premier League, but Boucher laid that to rest in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
“Jofra is one hundred per cent ready for tomorrow. He skipped the optional training session and felt that he was ready to go for tomorrow’s (2 April) game against RCB. We are really happy with his progression in the last couple of days since he has been here,” Boucher said ahead of the game.
Mumbai Indians finished with the wooden spoon in the 2022 season after a horrific campaign. Captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan failed with the bat, and Mumbai did not have a lot of positives barring Tilak Verma and Tim David. Asked about the previous season, Boucher said that he was unaware of what happened in 2022 since he was busy handling the South Africa side. The former keeper-batter although said that Mumbai had fresh talent in the squad, who had made the team a very energetic place to be around.
“There’s some new talent in the team, some new energy. The direction that we are going in is a lot of concentration and a lot of happiness as well. And I think that we are in a good space a day before our first game,” the coach said.
Boucher confirmed that captain Rohit Sharma was in good touch as well and hoped that the team will get off to a good start in the 2023 season.
